Kev Lochun is the Deputy Digital Editor of HistoryExtra. As well as commissioning content from expert historians, he can also be found interviewing them on the award-winning HistoryExtra podcast. He was previously Deputy Editor of BBC History Revealed.
Kev is an arch-fan of all things medieval and Viking, with a particular interest in the intersections between history and pop culture. Under the guise of exploring history, he has trained in 14th-century Italian broadsword (courtesy of Fiore dei Liberi, who was kind enough to leave a manual), learned to sail a Viking longship in Roskilde, and hiked the ancient Kumano Kodo pilgrimage trail in Japan’s Kii peninsula. These days, he’s a defiantly average archer.
Prior to joining the history portfolio, Kev wrote about space science for BBC Sky at Night Magazine. A journalist for more than a decade, he has postgrad in magazine journalism from Cardiff University’s School of Journalism, Media and Culture, and has had bylines in BBC Science Focus, Your Family History, Men’s Health, Gamesradar and CVG.
