June Purvis is professor emeritus of women’s and gender history at the University of Portsmouth. She has written biographies of both Emmeline Pankhurst and Christabel Pankhurst and edited books, mostly on the suffrage movement. She is also editor of the feminist journal Women’s History Review, and series editor for a book series on women’s and gender history with Routledge.
