Dr Jóhanna Katrín Friðriksdóttir is a medievalist, specialising in Old Norse history, literature and manuscripts. She is the author of Valkyrie: The Women of the Viking World (Bloomsbury, 2020), nominated for the Cundill History Prize, and she has been a historical consultant for numerous documentaries and films about Vikings, including The Northman (2022). Jóhanna holds a doctorate in medieval literature from the University of Oxford and now lives in Oslo, Norway, where she works at the National Library of Norway as an expert on Norse subjects.
