Emily Brand is an author, historian and genealogist specialising in social history and romantic relationships during the long 18th century. Her book The Fall of the House of Byron (John Murray, 2020) was selected as BBC Radio 4 Book of the Week, and a Sunday Times, Mail on Sunday and BBC History Magazine Book of the Year. She previously worked as an editor of history and classic literature for the University of Oxford, and has since provided historical consultancy for television – including reality dating show The Courtship – as well as lecturing for numerous institutions including the V&A, the World Monuments Fund and the British Library. Emily is currently working on a forthcoming history of Marie Antoinette’s female inner circle.
